Landmark Fine Homes specializes in building on your lot or acreage. So many people have a vision of what their dream home should look like but do not know where to get started. Even more, homeowners have told us they want to find "that perfect spot" but haven't had any luck on their own.  That is where we come in - we can help with both!

Here are a few tips:

1.) When selecting a piece of land, Landmark Fine Homes, can come out and do a FREE lot inspection.  This allows you, as the future homeowner, to know what all costs will be involved.  So many people do not consider the land preparation, utilities, roads, etc. before buying a piece of property.  Unfortunately, many are left with a piece of land they love but are never able to afford to build on.

2.) If you haven't been able to find that perfect property, contact one of our New Home Consultants.  We can do the leg work for you and try to narrow down a location.

3.) Before you consider buying a floor plan off of the internet, it is important to remember that some of those plans are designed in other parts of the country and they do not meet the building standards in Oklahoma.  Come in and talk with us about what you are wanting.  Many of the floor plans that we have will probably meet your needs or can be modified to do so.  What is even better is we can walk you through the floor plans so you will get a better idea of how it looks in person and not just rely on a paper drawing. If we do not have exactly what you are wanting we can refer you to local design groups that specialize in building in Oklahoma.

Living where you want, on the land you have dreamed about, has become a huge part of the American Dream.  Landmark Fine Homes will custom build on your lot 1500 square feet and larger around the OKC Metro Area.  If you want to live from Guthrie to Lexington from El Reno to Shawnee we are the builder for you.  Is your land right outside this area?  Call us!  We would love to look at the project and see if we can help.

July 4th is a great time celebrating everything Americana.

Carrington Lakes got into the spirit of the 4th by decorating everything that moved- bikes, motorized cars, golf carts and more!  The event was a great way for the Community to come together and celebrate our Nation's birthday. The morning began with the parade.  The streets were packed with people of all ages decked out in their finest red, white and blue.  Onlookers lined the drives to encourage everyone and stock up on all the candy that was being thrown by the participants.   The parade made its way through the neighborhood and ended up at the Carrington Lakes Clubhouse. Once there, you had your choice of activity.  Everyone seems to love the Sno Cones!  Those that were brave tried out the waterslides and others lounged around the pool.  No matter what your preference was there was something for everyone.

If this is a community you would like to live in, stop by our model home this week to find out how!  Our Model is located at 4316 Moorgate and is open from Thursday- Monday from 1:00-6:00 pm or by appointment.

If you have been wanting to move to Norman we have a house ready for you!  This home is located in the Carrington Community which is on the west side of Norman between 36th NW &48th NW and Franklin Road at 4128 Cannon.  The home is approximately 2402 square feet and is the perfect floor plan for entertaining with the Open Kitchen and Living area.  It may look like a 2 car garage but it is a 3 car tandum.  If you only need a 2 car garage you can use the extra space for a work area or extra storage.  The Carrington Community offers 2 Clubhouses, ponds, parks and walking trails throughout.  If schools are important to you Roosevelt Elementary, Whittier Jr. High and Norman North High School service this neighborhood.

As a homeowner, how do you know whether your home is energy efficient or not? You could guess based on your own understanding of energy efficiency, but it’s much more effective to evaluate the energy efficiency of a home using the Home Energy Rating System (HERS®). To earn a HERS index score, a home must comply with many mandatory standards, including components like window sealing, wall sealants, and insulation. Let’s take a closer look at the HERS® Index, and why it’s so important.

What is the HERS® Index Score?

Based on a scale of 0 to 150, the HERS® Index measures a home’s energy efficiency, with 0 being a net-zero energy home that generates as much energy as it consumes. On the other end of the scale, 150 indicates a home built to the minimum standards specified by the 2006 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC). A professional energy auditor determines the HERS® Index Score of a house after physically inspecting the house and conducting a detailed analysis of its energy consumption. Newly constructed homes are expected to score 100 on the HERS® Index, so any score lower than that indicates higher energy efficiency than a standard new home. A home that scores 70 would be 30 % more energy efficient than a standard new home, while a home with a score of 130 would be 30% less energy efficient.

What Goes Into the Scoring?

A home’s HERS® Score is calculated by a certified inspector from the Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET). Conducting an energy audit on your home, the inspector compares the data against a ‘reference home’, a designed model home. This model home will be the same size and shape as your home, to keep the score relative to the size, shape, and type of house in which you live. The Energy Rating includes variables like the exterior walls, the floors over unconditioned spaces, ceilings and roofs, attics, foundations and crawlspaces, windows, doors, vents, and ductwork, and HVAC systems, water heating systems and the thermostat.

Why is Your Home’s HERS® Index Score Important?

Determining your home’s score can give you a lot of information about your house. You can learn how efficiently it’s operating, and how you can save money on energy costs by making minor modifications. If you’re planning to sell your home, working towards a better HERS® Index Score can increase its value, and if you’re buying a home, looking at the HERS® Score can help you determine where you might want to make some changes to increase its efficiency.

It is that time of the year!  Relay for Life-Moore is right around the corner on May 29th.  Landmark Fine Homes has always been committed to raising money for the American Cancer Society.  This year we are changing it up a little.

In the years past we have donated $1.00 for every NEW like to our Facebook Page.  This year we are starting off with donating $1000 once we receive 1000 likes.  We only needed less than 100 NEW likes to reach that goal.  As of this morning, we are at 1004 LIKES!!!  Our next goal will be smaller..... If we get to 1500 likes we will donate $2000.

Several of our Team Members as well as extended family have been diagnosed with cancer.  This is very near and dear to all of our hearts.00

As you can tell it is a lot of fun!!  We would love to have our Landmark Family join us this year.  Keep watching for updates!

The reality is all year is Tornado Season in Oklahoma but we begin to talk about them more in March.  As you are thinking about making your plans for this year keep a few things in mind.

If you live in a older home it is not cost effective to make the changes necessary to make your home safer. Stop by one of our Model Homes in Carrington Lakes, The Preserve at Parkside, The Springs at Greenleaf Trails, The Reserve at Valencia or Belleau Wood and ask our New Home Consultants to see "The Five Secrets You Must Know Before You Buy a New Home." The Five Secrets will show you  what sets Landmark Fine Homes apart in our construction and safety features in our homes.

When you are thinking about building a new home be sure and talk with our New Home Consultants about the options for Storm Shelters. Our customers have chosen every one of these options and have very specific reasons why they have made those choices.  Here are some of the reasons they have told us:

In the garage Lift Top Shelter:

Our Customers love the convenience of being able to walk in the garage and not be in the elements of the storm.  The lift door makes the shelter feel more roomy. Some of our customers did not choose this option because to get in the shelter would require their cars to be in the driveway and risk having hail or other damage.

In the garage Sliding Door Shelter:

This is also a great options for those wanting to stay out of the elements of the storm.  The sliding door was chosen by some because of the ease of opening and shutting the door. The same reasons for not choosing this option as with the in the garage Lift Top Shelter.

Metal Safe Room:

Several of our customer have picked the Metal Safe room to be put in their garage.  This is a great option for those that do not want to go underground.  It is also a great option for those who would have trouble going up and down stairs or those with physical disabilities.  Some have not chosen this because they feel safer underground.

Outdoor Concrete Safe Room:

There have been several customers who do not want to give up any garage space for the Storm Shelter and have opted for the Outdoor Concrete Safe Room.  The reasons for choosing this have been the same as the Metal Safe Room.

Outdoor Underground Storm Shelter:

Several Customers have chosen this based on the fact that they do not want it in the garage because they want to be able to leave the cars protected during a storm but want to be underground.  Things to consider with this option is you might have to be in the elements to get into the shelter during a storm.

If we haven't started we can also put the above-ground shelters inside the home if you know where you would like it. Which kind would you choose?
