Why You Should Invest in Pest Control for Your New Home

Posted on August 31, 2021

When you’re buying a new home, there are many things you’ll want to handle immediately. For new home construction, pest control might not be at the top of your list. If you’re buying something older, you might expect to see some pests, but does a new home need pest control? It absolutely does, for several reasons.

Why New Homes Need Pest Control

Consider this: new homes are built on lots that have been cleared for construction. Often, these lots were previously wooded areas that were home to animals and insects. When these creatures are displaced, they have to find a new place to live, and in many cases, it’s the new house that’s been constructed on their old stomping grounds. Mice, spiders, and insects do not understand ownership, so even though you now own that home, they still see the property as theirs. Sometimes they get into the building as it’s being constructed, after which they’re trapped in the new home. Rodents and insects are very adaptable, though, and they’ll make a home wherever they find themselves. Rodents can make bedding out of insulation and construction materials, birds and bats can nest under roofing tiles, and numerous creepy crawlies can be found in a newly constructed property, including spiders, crickets, cockroaches, ants, flies, moths, ants, fleas, and ticks.

Preventing Pest Problems Before They Occur

What can a homeowner do? Prevention is the best way to handle home pest control. If you’re confident enough in your own abilities, do-it-yourself pest control may be an option for you. For most people, though, it’s better to talk to a pest control expert who can help set up a preventive maintenance program and keep pests from becoming a problem in your beautiful new home.
